In the simplest setup, Teams can be as direct as one-to-one with your notion of a department. In this setup, most companies would have Sales, Marketing, Support, etc.
Additionally, we recommend creating two special teams: "All Employees" and "Contractors".
In this setup, each of your colleagues would be part of two teams: All Employees (or Contractors) and their department. (Of course, if you have folks who span several departments, by all means, include them accordingly!)
Next, for each team you'll want to include the apps typically used by members of that department.
For Sales, this might include tools such as Salesforce, Hubspot, etc. Support might be Zendesk, Intercom, etc. For All Employees, we recommend adding the org-wide tools your colleagues use. Typically this includes apps like GSuite, Okta, Notion, Zoom, etc.
When you place an app into a team, you can decide if the app is "required" or "optional" - this choice influences whether Blissfully should expect team members to have access to this tool (and help close any gaps) or that the tool is optional, and it's OK if Blissfully sees usage, but shouldn't worry about folks who aren't using the application.
In Blissfully, teams can belong to other teams. For example, Frontend and Backend might be two teams within the Engineering team.
Child teams will inherit apps from their parent teams. Continuing the example above, if GitHub is assigned to Engineering, then members of Frontend and Backend will both be assigned GitHub.
To make a team a child of another team, select the team from the Teams page, then use the menu in the top-right corner to edit info. In the Parent Team box, select the parent team of your choice.
Blissfully can sync your teams from G Suite Organizational Units (OUs) or Okta Groups. Syncing keeps Blissfully's teams updated with the teams from either sync source.
To sync teams from G Suite OUs, head to Integrations > G Suite Automation > Team Sync, then check the box for Synchronize Organizational Units into Teams.
To sync teams from Okta Groups, head to Integrations > Okta > Team Sync, then check the box for Synchronize Okta Groups into Teams.
Alternatively, Blissfully can seed your teams from Google Groups or BambooHR. Seeding populates teams in Blissfully from the teams in the seed source of your choice, but after that, there is no connection between Blissfully teams and the seed source's teams.
Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or in the chat window on any Blissfully page to request seeding.
Finally, you can upload a CSV of people to an existing team. Once you manually create the team, open it up and head to the Members tab, then hit the "Bulk import" button:
